## GRADE 8 ## LOCATION OF POSITION 11501 Garrison Forest Road Owings Mills, MD 21117 ## Main Purpose of Job To conduct all tasks associated with the interment of veterans and their dependents and the maintenance of cemetery grounds, buildings and equipment. ## POSITION DUTIES The position provides full performance levels of grounds keeping and building services work involving the care, beautification, operations and maintenance of State cemetery grounds and facilities. This includes the full interment of veterans, gravesite preparation, maintenance and headstone installation. ## MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS **Education:** Completion of the sixth grade. **Experience:** One year of experience in grounds keeping or buildings and grounds maintenance work. **Note:** Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in general maintenance classifications or cemetery caretaking specialty codes in the general maintenance field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience. ## DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Experience in grounds and building services work. Experience with power tools and various types of lawn equipment. Experience in the maintenance of various pieces of equipment, to include tractors, trucks an light equipment. ## LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland. ## SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS Employees in this classification may be required to apply and store pesticides. Such employees shall use or apply pesticides in compliance with Maryland State pesticide regulations and licensing requirements. ## SELECTION PROCESS Please make sure that you provide sufficient information on your application to show that you meet the qualifications for this recruitment.
