Tekla Detailer / Lead Draft Person - Fabrication & Machining

Beitzel Corporation is now accepting applications for a full-time Tekla Detailer/Lead Draft Person. The Tekla Detailer/Lead Draft Person is responsible for creating drawings that exhibit the detail and method of assembly for a variety of steel structures utilizing Tekla, Inventor, AutoCad and other detailing software. This position will participate in designing layout of a multitude of structural components for steel fabrication as well as provide supervision and direction for a group of detailers. The Tekla Detailer/Lead Draft Person will directly support initiatives and projects throughout Beitzel Corporation and will report to the Division Manager.





The Tekla Detailer/Lead Draft Person will work out of the Beitzel Fabrication and Machining Office located in Bittinger, MD. This position will support project initiatives in both the Bittinger and Grantsville Fabrication shops while reporting to the Division Manager.




+ Interpret construction documents in order to create detailed 3-D models


+ Use Computer Aided Design and Inventor Drafting systems to prepare drawings - applied knowledge of Tekla and Inventor preferred


+ Develop detailed designs for steel structures


+ Review and analyze specifications, sketches, drawings, ideas, and related data to assess factors affecting component designs and the procedures and instructions to be followed


+ Position instructions, notes and comments onto drawings


+ Modify and revise designs to correct operating deficiencies and resolve design problems


+ Layout and draw schematic, orthographic, or angle views to depict functional relationships of components, assemblies, systems, and structures


+ Confer with internal and external customers to assess needs and provide deliverables that are accurate and precise


+ Review and analyze specifications


+ Specify dimensions, materials, and procedures and draw in minute details of structures and components


+ Coordinate with other team members to ensure quality and schedule are maintained


+ Create reports and downloads to assist other team members














+ 2 or 4 year degree in Structural Drafting and Design or equivalent education and work experience


+ 3 to 5 years of experience in applying 3D drafting techniques (including Tekla, AutoCAD and Inventor) used in the design of industrial and fabrication applications


+ Must exhibit a high-level of professionalism, integrity, and be willing and able to maintain a positive and professional demeanor in representing Beitzel Corporation, without exception


+ Possess advanced knowledge of personal computers and software packages including specific knowledge of MS Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint


+ Proficient in organizational skills with high level of attention to detail


+ Demonstrated ability to excel under pressure and meet project deadlines


+ Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) and to represent Beitzel Corporation in a professional, competent and courteous manner


+ Ability to coordinate with cross-functional teams to accomplish common goals


+ Ability to prioritize projects and coordinate a team effectively


+ Supervisory experience preferred


+ Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision


+ Must be able to effectively adapt to ever-changing and ever-emerging customer needs


+ Preference will be granted to applicants with a combination of drafting and design training, along with practical hands-on field experience

+ Must possess a valid state driver's license prior to employment
