## Main Purpose of Job
A Health Records Reviewer is the full performance level of work reviewing health records in order to make recommendations concerning the duration and continuation of patients' stays in a State facility or local health department and to ensure compliance with facility policies. The main purpose of this position is to prepare charts for new admissions; monitor the organization's compliance with discharge documentation and policies; manage the organization's closed medical records; and, handle the submission of the organization's census and other data to the Behavioral Health Administration (BHA) and others. This position will receive general supervision from the Director of Quality Improvement.
## MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
**Education:** Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalence certificate.
**Experience:** Three years of experience compiling and maintaining health records.
**NOTE:**
1. Additional experience as described above may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Medical Record classifications or Patient Administration Specialists and Health Services Management specialty codes in the health records management field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

## BENEFITS
Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program (the Program), have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.
